Hi, Does this product come with a detachable side awning? I had a look at Coleman website and it does show detachable side awning on their product video (https://www.colemanaustralia.com.au/en_AU/instant-up-gold-8-person/1393215.html?cgid=coleman-tents#start=2).
G'day Pradeep,
Unfortunately, the Gold 8P model doesn't have a detachable side awning, only the Gold 4P and 6P have a detachable side awning.
Hi, I want to buy this tent along with mesh tarp but confused on which dimension of tarp to buy. I want the tarp to cover the whole tent INCLUDING front awning area. Please advise. Thanks in advance.
G'day Pradeep,
If you want a tarp that will go under the entire tent and front awning then the 2.4 x 6.1m Ultramesh Tarp should do the trick.
coleman 8 person instant gold series
G'day Daisy,
The next shipment of the Coleman Instant Up Gold 8P Tent is due in late September. Unfortunately, the supplier has not given us an exact date. You can also click 'Notify Me' button and we'll let you know as soon as they land back instock.
Hi we have a tear in the synthetic mesh/webbing fabric that tops the red button and join in the roof poles. (Coleman 8 person gold- old style) What should I use to repair it. I can’t just join the bits together
G'day Jill,
There are a few options available to repair your tent, you could grab a Nylon Tent Repair Kit that has some nylon patches as well as some mesh screening and thread so you can sew in a repair patch. Alternately you could try some self-adhesive screen patches however I'm not sure how well they'll hold given that your hole sits over your roof poles.
Is there a reason you can't sources the 8p Coleman Gold series anymore? Are they coming of market or is it just temporary? Also trying to work out what would be better to fit 1 queen Strecher and 1 single. Plus luggage. Just not sure on the shape of the 8p tent as it seems to be a lot narrower. ? Would the beds fit lengthways at the back of the the 8p?
G'day Leah,
At this stage, the Coleman Instant Up 8P Gold is unavailable until at least September, which is why we've pulled it off our site. So if you're willing to wait we should get more stock later in the year. We'd be pretty confident you'll fit a queen and single stretcher in the tent with a little room for luggage underneath the stretchers. The 10P Gold might be a good option that is currently available and will give you plenty of room.
On the Instant-up 8p Gold Series, above the front fly door there are two loops (left & right top). Then at the very bottom of the door fly there is a strip of material that seems to be where velcro latches to. Are these for extensions & if yes where can I buy this.
G'day Rob,
Thanks for your questions, the Instant Up Gold 8P can be attached to a Coleman Gazebo using the velcro strip. The loops you're referring to I'm assuming is a stretchy cord with a toggle on the end? If so, then these are designed so you can roll up the front for easy access to the front door.
Does the Instant Up Gold 8p Tent come in a darkroom version? Or are Coleman looking to introduce one soon?
G'day Jordan,
Thanks for getting in touch, unfortunately Coleman don't do a Darkroom version of the Instant Up Gold 8P. They do the 6P Darkroom or Northstar 10P Darkroom but nothing in between.
I have an older Coleman Instant Up 8 tent - the floor material is very thin and holes easily (even with an additional groundsheet underneath). Does the ‘gold’ version have a tougher floor?
G'day Andy,
Without knowing the exact age of your Instant Up tent it's hard to say for sure but I can tell you that the Gold has a 420D Polyoxford PVC floor. A couple of our teammates own an Instant Up Gold and have been really impressed with the durability of the floor. If you want to let us know the age of your tent we can look into it further for you. Feel free to shoot us through an email service@snowys.com.au
Cheers :)
I am looking at the 8man tent for a family of four but also would take it for roomy solo trips. Can this tent be erected by one adult (186cm tall man)? Thanks
G'day Yuri,
The Instant-Up Gold 8P can be put up by one person fairly easily. The tricky bit will be putting the fly over the tent, so it may take slightly longer than with help but it is definitely able to be set up my one person.
If I buy today will it be delivered before Christmas Day
G'day Susan,
At this point in time, I wouldn't want promise we could sorry. There's a possibility it would make it, but there'd be a risk it wouldn't get there in time and you'd be stuck sleeping under the stars!
Is the external dimensions more due to the front awning being set up? I am camping somewhere where camp site size is very restricted. Going by internal measurements I will fit, going by external I won’t, but if I can leave the awning down that could work.
G'day
If you have a look at the final image on the Coleman Instant Up Gold 8P Tent you'll see a diagram that shows the dimension of the tent. The external dimensions are included the fly when it is zipped down, not with the awning up, so if you're pressed for space it might be a little too big.
Hi I've bought a 8p instant gold and it's excellent until my friend dragged it over gravel and the fly is torn. Can I check if there are replacement rain fly?
G'day Gabriel,
That's a pain! We can often get spare parts for the Coleman Instant Up Gold 8P Tent. Give us a buzz on 1300 914 007 and our customer service team can see if we can source a new fly for you.
Hi, I'm currently planning a camping trip for April 2019 and was wondering whether to but the Instant Up Gold 8P tent now or wait until next year. Will there be a 2019 model coming out? In terms of pricing will it go up or should I buy one now. Thanks.
G'day Reece,
As far as we know Coleman
We always aim have our products at our everyday low price, but that depends on the buy price which may fluctuate over the next year Reece.
I checked 6p Gold and it has a rear door as well. While looking at pics and videos of 8p Gold it doesn't indicate clearly. We are a family of four (9yr and 3yr) and comparing between 6p Gold vs 8p Gold both non-dark room. Any suggestions which one will be more suitable? We're newbies so ease of use and setup/wrap up time is important.
G'day Johny,
There are definitely pros and cons for both the 6P & 8P of the Coleman Instant Up Gold range. The 8P doesn't have a backdoor on it, only the front, which may be a bit of an issue for you. The 8P does have a dividing curtain in the middle of the tent though, creating an element of space between you and the kids if that's something that you would like.
Hi, I am tossing up between this tent and the 6P Gold Dark Room for a family of 4. I notice the sleeping area for this tent is 3.7m x 2.3m compared with 3.2m x 2.6m for the 6P Gold Dark Room tent – to me the difference in the sleeping area size appears to be marginal. Is this right? In terms of size is the 8P tent much bigger than the 6P tent? What are the main differences (in terms of size) between the two? Thanks
G'day Neil,
You're right with your assertion on the size differences between the Sea to Summit Instant Up Gold 8P tent and the 6P variety too. The 8P is longer and narrower, allowing for more people to sleep in it but will sacrifice a little more "living area" to do so. If you're looking to separate you and the kids though, the 8P might be a good choice because it has an internal dividing curtain.
Hi There, is the carry bag waterproof? Thinking if purchased would need to transport on roof rack but the last thing I would want to do is set up a wet tent if it rained during travel.
G'day Brett,
The Coleman Instant Up tent bag is water resistant but not waterproof. The zips are the weak spot and with any significant rain, water will seep through.
Hi, I have checked the sleeping areas of the Instant up gold 8p and Instant up 8p. You have listed different sizes. 410 x 240 vs. 370 x 230. Is the gold smaller inside? Would in both thent fit four stretchers?
G'day Katie,
Your right - there is a bit of a difference in sleeping area size between the two models. Can you please advise of the size of your stretchers so I am able to best answer your query?
Hello, looking at your Ultramesh tarps, what size would you recommend as best fit for under the floor area? Thanks very much and keep up your great service.
G'day Glen,
Looking at external dimensions of the Coleman Instant Up Gold 8P Tent, I'd recommend the 2.4 x 4.8m Oztrail Ultramesh Tarp to protect the base of the tent.
Just wondering if it’s possibly to completely remove the divider from the centre to allow for more room.
G'day Jen,
Good news, you're able to detach the divider in the Coleman Instant Up Gold 8P Tent.
Hi just comparing the 6 person or 8 person gold for a couple with bags. Does the 6 work better with two doors or rather keep it all open and have one big room with the 8 person? Same amount of windows? It would seem that the size isn’t too different is one just a newer model? And the 8 person was $399.90 last week does the price fluctuate week to week? Or can u match it from last week?
G'day Bob,
From what I can understand from what you've described, you're comparing the Coleman Instant Up Gold 8P tent against the Coleman Instant Up Dark Room 6P tent. If so, you've got a great understanding of the tents, the 6P tent, however, is only a 1 section and 2 window tent, whereas the 8P is a 2 section and 4 window tent. The 8P is also relatively bigger in comparison.
Ultimately, it comes down to what you'd like from a tent? If you could let me know what important features matter to you, I can then help a bit more with some specific advice.
They are all current models, the difference is that they are different styles of tent in that the 6P tent has the Dark Room feature.
In regards to the pricing, as a generous allowance that we don't usually do, we'll allow the Flash Sale price to stand until Wednesday. If you'd like to purchase at the Flash Sale price, you'll need to call on on 1300 914 007 so we can facilitate this discount for you.
Our team will also be able to help you decide between which tent is better for you if you'd prefer to discuss it over the phone.
I saw that the 6p doesn't have two doors in photos but does in the actual product, so is that the same with this one? Also tossing up between the 6p 8p and 10p for my family of 4. Like to avoid having a massive tent but also like the zipped divide of the 10p. We usually use two inflatable double beds. Our old temp was the old Coleman 6p timbertop and that had good size with separate rooms.
G'day Noah,
Unfortunately, there is only a front door available with the Coleman Instant Up Gold 8P Tent.
In regards to tent options, have you considered the Coleman Instant Northstar Dark Room 10P Tent available here? This tent isn't much bigger than the Instant Up 10P and gives you an abundance of space with 3 separate sections to organise both living and sleeping specific areas.
We are first time campers, and wondering if this tent fit in a boot of a sedan?
G'day Jes,
How big is your boot? The packed dimensions for the Coleman Instant Up 8P Gold are 119L x 28W x 28H cm.
Hi, Is the front door waterproof? (Not the fly). In other words, could you leave the awning pole and pegs in or do you need to close it up for rain?
G'day L,
Unfortunately, for rain, you'll need to lower the awning fly of the Coleman Instant Up 8P Gold at the front door to seek protection from the moisture.
Hi there Is there a detachable side awning for the 8P? I tried to find this on the Snowys and Coleman sites but can't find it, to price it? Thanks
G'day Jasmine,
Unfortunately, there are no side walls available for any tent in the Coleman Instant Up range.
thanks
G'day Fraser,
The front door of the fly from the Coleman Instant Up 8 is utilised as the awning and along with the poles, both are included.
Is there a gap in the screen at the bottom? Does it have a zip in the middle as a door?
G'day Meredith,
Yes, there is a privacy curtain in the Instant Up 8 - you can get an idea of what it looks like if you look at the last image on the product page close-up, you can kind of see that there is a zip down the middle and that the curtain doesn't quite touch the floor.
Hi what is the difference between the gold and silver instant up 8p?
Hi Sarah,
The main difference between the Instant Up Gold and standard Instant Up 8 tents is that the gold is going to be a little more hard wearing and robust.
The Gold has a higher waterhead rating at 3000mm, a PVC floor instead of Polyethylene floor, comes with a detachable side awning for extra shelter, and features slightly finer mesh than the standard.
G'day L,
Sorry about this - we'd previously been under the understanding that there was a side awning included, but have since discovered by looking at the product, that there isn't - hence the correction in the answer above.
Functional difference and what accessories such as awning that can be added
G’day Nitin,
The main difference between the Instant Up Gold and standard Instant Up tents is that the Gold range is made to be slightly more heavy duty than the Instant Up standard tents.
The Gold has a higher waterhead rating at 3000mm, stronger PVC floor, comes with a detachable side awning for extra shelter, and slightly finer mesh. I hope that answered your question, let us know if you have any further queries!
G'day everyone,
Just want to let you all know, that there was a bit of a miscommunication and we've now discovered that this tent doesn't come with the detachable side awning - I do apologise if this has caused any confusion or inconvenience.
What side awning doesn't it come with? Are the pictures representing extras which doesn't come with the tent?
G'day Gabriel,
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you are seeing the front (not side) awning in the photos of the Coleman Instant Up 8P Gold. That is still included.
How many pegs if any come with this tent as standard.
G'day Brad,
We're actually not too sure about this, so I've given Coleman a call, and they should hopefully get back to us as soon as possible about the number of pegs included for the Instant Up 8 Gold.
Hi Brad,
We haven't heard back from Coleman, and we don't have an Instant Up 8 on display, but we do have an Instant Up 6 which comes with 44 pegs included - which is more than enough to pitch the whole tent.
Going from that I would say that the Instant Up 8 will definitely have more than the Instant Up 6, so you should have plenty to pitch your tent with.
